We hope you had an amazing Easter, celebrating the new life we have because of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! It was the first time I can remember being home with a sick family on Easter Sunday! It was a sad day to miss out on celebrating and worshiping with friends at church but our Easter Sunday was also new and refreshing in its own way. Like so many things in life, there were mixed emotions. We know the way the Lord has for us to walk in this life is fraught with difficulties but along the way there is Joy to be found with Christ and his Body as we walk together.
coaching hours to apply for certification. Once this training is completed, she will be better equipped to help people thrive in Christ in our ministry.
- for John as he “digests” the training from Pure Desire Ministries he attended last weekend in the Washington DC area. (This training conference focuses on equipping leaders to bring hope and healing to men, women, and their families in the areas of compulsive porn use and other related addictions)
- for our family to thrive in this very full season of life transitions and change
- for Ellen as she begins her transition as a coach serving missionaries at Cru Headquarters on her new team, while still attending classes
- for financial (and logisitical) provision for these trainings
- for health for our family, we have noticed that sicknesses tend to come at not-so-ideal times! 😦
Partners in His Harvest,
Can you believe Valentine’s Day was only one month ago? Many of us celebrated with our loved ones and spouses. It is a significant day for many.
Yet the grim reality in America is that 59%1 of married church- attending men romanced their wife on Valentine’s Day, and then continued to view and struggle with pornography. What’s worse is that recent research2 shows divorce rates double when people begin watching porn. Valentine’s day romancing is nice, but not enough when it comes to defending a marriage from a powerful hidden sexual struggle.
As we mentioned in our last post a few days ago, we are pursuing a new direction in ministry. We feel called to provide hope, healing, and a place of recovery for men who struggle with the compulsive use of pornography and addiction, and help them, their spouses, and families to thrive wherever the Lord has destined them to have the greatest impact on the world for Christ.
In a future post we will include a letter of recommendation from Rich Lotterhos, the General Manager of Global Service Associates (GSA). We hope it will encourage you and give you more insight into the purpose and mission of GSA.
We invite you to partner with us prayerfully and financially as we move into this next chapter of life and ministry to bring a deep-heart discipleship process to many men and their families, whether they know Jesus personally or not… be they churched, “unchurched”, or “de-churched.” There are many ways you can join with us financially. You can give a tax-deductible gift in the following ways:
- Mailing checks made out to “Global Service Associates” with our names in the memo to:
P.O. Box 20425, Boulder, CO 80308
- Give online at http://johnandellenfleming.com/give which redirects to our mission’s website. Or just click the Give button below.
- Please Pray for us and those we minister to, and let us know you are praying, if you have a chance. 🙂
If you received a link to this post via an email from us, we plan to contact you soon to answer any questions you have and see if you would partner with us financially in this new exciting chapter.
Looking forward to seeing the fruit of our partnership in Eternity,

House SOLD!! and drawing toward the end of 2015…
We are so relieved at how quickly the Lord blessed all the details. Not ONE snag in the whole process from our Open House until final closing! We are truly blessed to have so many of you praying for times like these when we really need the Lord to move on our behalf, financially. Thank you for holding us and our 2 family property sale up to the Lord! We have been renting a home in Orlando and we are content NOT to be property owners… for at least a little while! 🙂
As the Year draws to a close…
It’s been a year and a half since we took on our new shared role as National Director of Operations for the High School ministry of Cru. The Lord has blessed us to be partnered with so many like you to see some amazing things God has done this year through this ministry. This year over 3.2 million teenagers have had the chance to hear the gospel through the work of our teams around the world. Whether visiting everystudent.com in an unreached country or in a classroom in Texas, students are seeking a relationship with Jesus. This year our high school students travelled on missions to eleven countries around the world. Some of our alumni, as freshmen in college, launched a Cru ministry on their campus in Georgia this fall. We are literally leaning into the hope of every teenager having the opportunity to understand how they can experience a new life in Christ. As we trust Him, He provides new opportunities and open doors.
The number of students around the world (over 500 Million) is so large that it is staggering for us. However, when we hear the stories of changed lives and see new opportunities to reach more, we know the Lord has them all, your family, and us in His Hands.
Your partnership in prayer and/or financially with us makes it possible for us to make great progress in building and growing the ministry to train people to bring the good news to teenagers. We appreciate what you already have done to partner with us and you are a source of joy and encouragement to us. It is because of you that we have been able to directly serve and influence leaders in over 20 cities throughout the US and beyond.
As we move into 2016, we need to raise approximately $2700 per month that we are lacking to continue in the ministry, plus $10,000 in one time gifts. This year has been a very tough one, financially, considering we lost thousands of dollars on the sale of our Albany property, an aging garage on that property needing to be demolished, and losing rental income from an empty 2nd floor apartment for a few months before the sale. Maybe it’s been a tough year for you too. If you are able, would you prayerfully consider giving a special gift of $100, $200, $500, or some other amount? Regardless of what you decide, we are so grateful for you! You can give online at JohnAndEllenFleming.com/give or by sending a check made out to “Campus Crusade for Christ” to our home address in Orlando. If you do so by 12/31, it will be tax-deductible for this year.
We pray you will know our Lord in deeper ways this Christmas and that you would truly experience the joy that comes from our Savior alone!
Remembering His grace upon grace through his coming in a manger,
Yes, this happened to us not more than a couple months ago. It’s probably happened to most people at some point in life. Cars don’t want to start or they break down. But on a highway where people are doing 70+ mph, it can add a little “crazy” to your day, especially on a commute home from the office. Fortunately Ellen and I were together and we were able to get it off the highway a little later. Do you wonder what it was? A bad alternator. A friend helped us that night to tow the car home and then a mechanic fixed it the next day. But we decided not long ago we probably needed to start looking for a replacement for our beloved stick-shift 11 year old sedan. I’ll share more on how this story is unfolding below.
Since we took on our new shared role as National Director of Operations for the High School ministry of Cru, we have been seeing and hearing some amazing things that God has been doing through this ministry. (read more about our new role at JohnAndEllenFleming.com/new/ ) Just this Fall alone, our ministry has helped over 7000 teenagers across the nation hear the gospel and about 1200 decided to place their trust in Christ!
We are grateful for your prayers and financial support that enable us, together with you, to be a part of this harvest of young people. There are approximately 531,000,000 middle school and high school students in the world. Our focus in Cru is to build spiritual movements everywhere until every student knows someone who truly follows Christ and has an opportunity to do the same. The number of students around the world is so large that it is staggering for us. However, when we hear a story like the one of Tracy below from a few weeks ago in Houston, it is easier to see the impact that Jesus is having on students’ lives.
“As I looked out the window at the girls sitting outside, I prayed that their lives would be touched. Tracy, one of [our new staff members], was in deep conversation with several high school girls who had stopped at Menchie’s for some frozen yogurt after school. Soularium cards [a deck of unique photos], which are used to initiate spiritual conversations, were spread across the table. After a while, I saw Tracy pull out her smartphone and use an app called God Tools to present the gospel. Later I saw one of the students bow her head as she prayed to trust Christ. One more of the 531,000,000 students had entered the Kingdom.”
There are millions more who need to hear about Christ. Your partnership with us makes it possible for us to make great progress in building and growing the ministry to train people like Tracy to bring the good news to teenagers. We greatly appreciate what you already do to partner with us and you are a continual source of joy and encouragement as you pray and give faithfully to our ministry. It is because of you that we are able to directly serve and influence leaders in over 20 cities throughout the US.
As we move into 2015, we need to raise approximately $2500 per month that we are lacking to continue in the ministry. We have the opportunity to buy a used car very soon to replace our old one which will cost us about $7000. This year has been one of our toughest yet, financially. Would you prayerfully consider giving a special gift of $100, 200, $500, $1000, or some other amount? Regardless of what you decide, we are so grateful for you! You can give online at JohnAndEllenFleming.com/give or by sending a check made out to “Campus Crusade for Christ” to our address. If you do so by 12/31, it will be tax-deductible for this year. We pray you will experience our Lord in amazing ways this Christmas!
For the King and His Kingdom,
From the both of us and our girls, we want to thank you for your prayers, your sacrifices of time and finances (and sometimes even more!) this past year. The Lord is Good and he has worked in amazing ways in so many lives this year, both in ways we CAN see and ways we CANNOT see.
We are grateful for you.
Please watch this short 2 minute video above for a special message of thanks from our President on our behalf.
It’s NOT too late to give a tax-deductible gift toward our ministry before the End of the Year!
For those of you who have already given a special gift and /or pledged to join our monthly support team for this next year, we thank you! If you haven’t yet and you would like to consider giving a special tax-deductible gift for the year 2013 before it ends (Wednesday is 2014!) , you can click on the “Click to Give” button on the right or go here to see how you can give.
In awe of a New Year,
